This long established excellent traditional bar, with upstairs cocktail lounge (which can be privately booked), re-opened in 2022 after a ten year absence. It welcomes both locals and visitors alike and hosts frequent open mic music evenings. Many of the old features such as the spectacular bar gantry, cornices and panelling have been retained and refurbished. The real ales are generally from smaller breweries. Children are not admitted. In June 2025 food was being served Wednesday to Saturday in both the upstairs lounge and the downstairs bar. In September 2025 it was announced that the kitchen was closed until further notice. Nearby bus stops serve long distance and a variety of local destinations. MAR. 2026: Opening hours have been extended to include Sundays
