See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Set in the main street of a quiet Borders village, owners David & Sarah McLean have transformed this formerly ailing pub into a charming family-run inn. The bar has light wood flooring and is decorated and furnished to give a bright, modern and welcoming appearance. Third of a pint glasses are available for cask ales. Food is served in the bar. Click HERE for current menus. The pub also offers a takeaway service Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 5.30 to 7.30 but food should be pre-ordered. There is a large south-facing beer garden with views of the surrounding countryside. Children are welcome until 9pm and well behaved dogs at any time. The local bus service is just a sparse 34 service that restarted on 20.5.24, so often best to persuade someone to drive or come by horse and use the hitching rings at the front of the pub! (Or the Teviot taxi bus service may be ordered). There are also secure arrangements for cycles. The inn is open all week for accommodation and opens each morning for the sale of papers and other produce. Click HERE for latest opening hours and meal times. May close early if there are no customers in. CAMRA Borders Real Ale Quality Award winner 2022. CAMRA Borders Real Ale Quality Award runner up 2021.
