Excelent tradtional pub run by the same family since 1858. The bar and snug feature wooden floors, wood panelling and mirrors from defunct local breweries. There is an attractive gantry topped with old casks and a large TV regularly showing sports. The more modern rear lounge opens at the weekend and there is a partially covered beer garden. Popular with race goers and other sports fans. It retains a community feels with local clubs using the lounge for meetings. Real ales on the eight handpumps change regularly; serving a variety of styles, although pale and hoppy beers predominate. Solar panels were installed in May 2025 to help with energy costs.
