See more about this pub on CAMRA's national web site
Two-roomed pub in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle with wooden floors, high ceilings and old brewery window panels, which gives it an old-fashioned feel, complemented by candles in the evening. It is named after the uniform of a local school and inlaid on the floor is a large mosaic featuring a blue blazer, dated 1889. The back room is more spacious than the main room. The cask ales are served on 5 handpumps along with two Aitken Founts that were renovated in June 2025. Hand written detailed labels describing the ales are displayed by the pumps. A separate handpump dispenses cider which may not always meet CAMRA’s definition of a real cider. Sunday lunchtimes feature a free “help yourself” cheeseboard on the bar. NOTE: Children and Stag and Hen parties are not admitted.
