Spacious and busy alehouse drawing a varied clientele of all ages, ranging from business people to football fans, but children are not admitted. The interior features an imposing horseshoe bar, bare floorboards, a splendid cornice and a collection of brewery mirrors. Old barrels act as tables for those who wish to stand up, or cannot find a seat. The changing real ales, often from smaller Scottish breweries, come in a range of strengths and styles. Sparklers removed on request. Light lunches are served Monday to Saturday from 12 to 2pm.
