See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

One of the finest Victorian pub interiors in Scotland, dominated by an impressive oval island bar with ornate brass light fittings and magnificent ceramic tiled wall murals of innovators, made by Doulton from pictures by John Eyre. The sporting windows of the adjacent Oyster Bar/Restaurant were made by the same firm that supplied windows for the House of Lords. The real (cask) ales are mainly from Scottish breweries, the Murray's Pale Ale being brewed by Broughton. Meals are served all day in the bar. Children, over five, allowed in restaurant only.
