Situated between two graveyards, the name Diggers became synonymous with this welcoming Edinburgh pub legend which opened in 1897. Banquette seating lines the walls, over 700 malt whiskies grace the gantry and a compass drawing in the floor aids the geographically challenged. Two smaller back rooms, where children are permitted until 9pm if eating, have further seating and the larger has a dartboard. Quieter now than in its heyday, though packed when Hearts are at home, it continues to extend a warm welcome to locals and visitors alike. Outstanding pies!
