FEB 2025 - Reopened on the 21st with three real ales and a new layout with tables down one side of the bar. Beer flights available DEC 2024 - New management have taken over but not yet open. AUG 2024 - Was expected to close Sat 24th but has stayed open. A refurbishment in July 2019 simplified the inside and opened up the windows but no drastic changes were made to the layout and style of the pub. This tenement bar is popular with locals and office workers. The internal layout is interesting with two private rooms at the rear. A number of historical brewery mirrors and old photos of the pub adorn the main room. Don’t miss the interesting mural on the steep stairs down to the toilets, which shows some former worthies. Food can be brought in by customers from adjacent take away shops by arrangement. Children are not admitted. May close earlier in winter.
