MAR 2025 - Reopened on 31st March. Now called 'The Angel', after the last film shown when the premises was a cinema ('The Trouble with Angels', 1966). The interior has been refurbished and there are lots of TVs showing sport and a couple of dart boards. Four handpumps for cask ale with two in use in early April. Details may change considerably, for example it will not do any food. No football colours, children or dogs.

NOV 2024 - Sold and due to be closed 4 Nov. Will be reopened by Amber Taverns, probably as a Sports bar as that's what they do. Further details to follow.

WAS: A JD Wetherspoon pub which attracts a large cultural cross-section of Leith's citizens. Originally the historic listed Palace Cinema, it now has a low ceiling hiding the balcony and the original decor and high ceiling. The spacious room is broken into discrete areas by waist high wood panels and there is a dais in one corner. A glass wall lets in light. It's corner location affords two main entrances, and a third to Constitution Street allowing disabled access. NOTE Be aware that a single queue may form despite the long bar. Alcoholic drinks are served from 9am (11 Sun).
